Leather and Lace

Well, here we are at a major milestone for the collaboration between The Preserve at Crooked Run Project and Line&Edge. Exciting times!

Our client just launched their new website and it is fabulous. (Of course, I am partial to everything about The Preserve.) We have been busting at the seams to disclose boards, renders, and photos but we value our client’s business plan and timetable, and contracted not to share anything until they had their site up and going.

Some projects just speak to designers in a unique way…and BOY did this one do it for me. This almost 500 acre camp for kids is now in great hands with Joe Thompson and Crew. They hired LIne&Edge to present elements and concepts that transform this property’s treasured past into a venue for both weddings and for corporate retreats. We spent one day taking measurements, touring the project, and discussing the goals for the property. That is when the idea came to us to try to use a local furniture manufacturer right here in Roanoke. What a great story it would be to have the two local businesses support one another. Txtur was able to meet our tight deadline and they also responded with first class service.

Let’s take a look at some before and after shots of the individual venues at The Preserve:

The Grand Lodge which was once a dining hall and gym is now the main structure on the property. It definitely holds its own as the focal point of the property and sets the tone for an Design Concept representing comfort and exclusiveness. It’s function will be for everything from Weddings to Corporate Retreats to Hunting Excursions, so we decided on an Eclectic Decor in order to incorporate a bride’s idea of the perfect day with the dream of an adventurous, great outdoor retreat. Hunters had to feel comfortable visiting as well as wedding guests. Leathers, hide rugs, neutral tones to mesh with the existing woodwork, and updated lighting and artwork added just the right touch. And a clean slate was left for wedding decorating!

Cabins are scattered all over the property. Some house 6 guests, some house 12. The bathrooms have all been updated with sleek warm grays, granite counter tops, storage vanities, and new lighting. The gathering spaces welcome guests in from their outdoor activities with a cozy daybed, leather lounge chairs, a dining/game table, and a kitchenette. Kudos again to our local furniture company Txture for most of the seating and dining tables throughout the project.

Glamping Anyone? These quaint, open air, glamping cabins will only hold up to 2 people, but are they not the best?! They were built on another part of the property and strategically placed in secluded areas for those who long for just a little more rustic environment without giving up a cozy bed and morning coffee.
